Introducing our new Lead Kindergarten Teacher |
|
|
|
|
Dear friends and community members,
Tierra Madre School is pleased to introduce our new Lead Kindergarten Teacher, Ms. Saylor Ferrin!
Working in collaboration with parents and community members, the Lead Teacher is the cornerstone of a healthy, happy Waldorf School. We are thrilled to have found a trained and experienced Waldorf teacher who meshes with our vision and is committed to growing our children and our school with us.
Saylor began working within Waldorf Education first as a parent when her daughter was born seventeen years ago! She trained formally as a Waldorf Teacher ten years ago and has been teaching in various ways within the Waldorf movement ever since. Saylor will be teaching in California through the summer. She looks forward to returning to New Mexico, her former home, in August.
Enrollment is underway for this exceptional teacher’s class. If you and your family wish to join the preschool or kindergarten for next year, please contact the school soon and reserve your space. We know the year ahead will be joyful, stable, and full of new growth for our school community. Have a great summer! And, celebrate the good news. Our new teacher is a perfect match! Warmly, All of us at Tierra Madre Community School |

| The mission of Tierra Madre School is to nurture and inspire our children and community through holistic approaches to education with the goal of creating social and ecological healing in the world. |
The Vision of Tierra Madre School is to provide a nurturing educational environment that enlivens children’s imagination, fosters their creativity, stimulates their intellect, and instills in them a sense of wonder and reverence for the natural world, as well as to honor self and others as part of that world. We will achieve this through a play-based kindergarten and an academically challenging, experiential, arts-integrated grades curriculum that are both thoughtfully attuned to honoring the developmental stages of childhood and designed to assist each individual to fully develop his or her own unique human capacities and intelligences. Through this endeavor we envision helping to bring forth a population of thoughtful, intelligent and compassionate citizens who are immersed in community, inspired by a deeply held love of learning, and committed to helping create a more just and peaceful world. Toward this end, our vision includes: - A contemporary Waldorf curriculum taught by Waldorf-trained teachers.
- A school campus that practices environmental sustainability and allows students frequent access to the natural world.
- Community partnerships that enhance the students’ connection to the natural world.
- A Community-Supported Education model that ensures TMS’ accessibility to families of all income levels.
- An active seasonal festival life in the school community.
- A community striving to be media-free.
